Theodolite is a versatile and essential app that combines multiple functions into one powerful viewfinder. It includes a compass, two-axis inclinometer, rangefinder, GPS, map, navigation calculator, and geo-overlay photo/movie camera. Since its release in 2009, Theodolite has been downloaded and used by millions of customers worldwide. While it offers limitless uses, it is particularly popular among professionals such as surveyors, geologists, architects, engineers, competitive sportsmen, first responders, military personnel, and search and rescue workers.

One of the standout features of Theodolite is its ability to capture data-overlay photos and movies with zoom capabilities ranging from 2X-8X. Users can overlay geographical data, angle markings, date/time, author/company info, and project notes directly onto photos and movies for easy reference later on. Theodolite also writes this data into the metadata record of images, making the image files self-contained data records. The ability to share map markers and nav calculator points with other Theodolite users through text messages or email provides a powerful collaborative capability. This feature opens up applications such as team land surveying, accident investigations, spotting wildfires, triangulation of landmarks, and advanced tactical observation and targeting. Plus, with an optional in-app purchase for team tracking, users can share their location with up to 20 people on Theodolite's map.

Theodolite includes additional features aimed at serious users, such as a reference angle mode, nav calculator, map marker import/export, manual and automatic data logging with CSV and KML export, clipboard integration, %grade display, mil compass readout, optical rangefinders (including a mil-based reticle, sniper-style stadiametric graphs, and a variable 4X-24X scope), and night filters for improved visibility in dark conditions.

Theodolite offers a wide range of coordinate systems, including military grid reference system (MGRS) coordinates, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates, British/Irish National Grids, US National Grid, Maidenhead locator system, Map Grid of Australia, and six latitude/longitude formats. Users can also opt for US State Plane coordinates, which include SPCS27 and SPCS83 zones covering all US States. Furthermore, the optional Datum Pack expands the app's capabilities with over 230 geodetic datums from regions and countries across all continents.

Another standout feature of Theodolite is its augmented reality (AR) layers. These layers include navigational aids such as the sun, moon, planets, Polaris (North star), and an optional US Mountain Summits layer that displays over 70,000 US mountain summits in the viewfinder.
